NSERC CREATE

Postdoctoral Program

Program Overview

The ImmunoE Postdoctoral Program is designed for postdoctoral fellows who are eager to innovate, contribute, and collaborate with us to build a strong interdisciplinary research community in the areas of immunoengineering and immunotherapeutics.

The program supports the career development of postdoctoral fellows by providing a flexible framework for individualized training and opportunities to build networks within both academia and industry.

Participation requires a minimum 1-year commitment from the post-doc, with the opportunity to renew each year.

As part of the program, postdoctoral fellows will:

  • Receive mentoring from early career researchers
  • Participate in networking events with industry
  • Participate in professional development activities and seminars, such as career pathing, insights into industry, and entrepreneurship
  • Contribute to the community, for example by developing online training modules, mentoring graduate students, serving on committee working groups, and participating in science communication and outreach activities
  • Be eligible for an optional transitional industry internship at the end of their postdoctoral fellowship

Program Eligibility

  1. Currently hold a post-doctoral position at UBC*
  2. Conduct research related to immunoengineering

* Research associates having recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship may be considered as well

Scholarship Eligibility

Post-doctoral scholarships are $15,000/year. To be eligible, PDFs must have

Parental leave taken for childbearing or rearing is not counted as part of the five-year period. NSERC views postdoctoral studies as a short-term period of training to prepare individuals for research careers.
