Patient Engagement 101 Workshop
Invitation to potential trainees/research members
Calling all research trainees looking to learn more about patient engagement in health research!
We are happy to announce the Patient Engagement 101 Workshop taking place on June 19, 2024 from 1-3 pm ATin Halifax, NS or online (hybrid format with masks mandated for all in-person attendees).
The intended audience is trainees (e.g., graduate students) who wish to learn more about patient engagement (PE; also referred to by other terms, including patient partnership) in research, but applications will be open to anyone on a research team in Canada.
The goal of the 2-hour workshop is to foster best practices in patient engagement through hands-on exercises and interactive learning that can be applied to future research projects.
More specifically, the objectives of this workshop are to:
Enhance trainee knowledge and understanding of patient engagement in research.
Increase trainee capacity to actively engage patient partners in all phases of the research continuum (distinct from patient participants in studies).
Develop trainee understandings of patient engagement best practices.
Attendance will be open to 45 trainees, 30 in-person and 15 virtual. Please complete an expression of interest statement by April 30th, 2024 via this survey.
Applications will be assessed in line with the principles of equity and diversity and will be aimed at equitable access for trainees from various geographies, genders, and methodological backgrounds, and those who identify as belonging to equity-deserving groups.
Further information on this opportunity and application details can be found here.
Note: Trainees can directly apply to the program and inform ImmunoT about themselves, their laboratory, and reasons for wanting to attend. If accepted, ImmunoT will cover the costs of attending.
ImmunoT supports and subsidizes meaningful experience in immunology labs on and off campus for equity seeking groups, as part of UBC’s work learn program.
This offers current UBC Vancouver students the opportunity to develop their professional skills in a work environment. For more information on the next round of applications join our mailing list!
